The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence have put out a call for all the techies out there.

NICE are looking for clinicians interested in new technologies, to sit on the Medical Technologies Evaluation Committee. BSGE members tend to be involved, interested and informed on the use of technology in minimally invasive surgery, so we have been asked to canvass for applicants. BSGE President Dominic Byrne said that it would be great to have BSGE members on an influential committee such as this and encouraged interested members to apply.

NICE are looking for a number of professionals with an interest in innovative technologies. These will include a nurse, a secondary care clinician, particularly consultant surgeons or physicians, with an interest in innovative technologies, a clinical scientist or clinical engineer with an interest in the application of technology in health and two NHS senior managers in provider or commissioning organisations, as well as those in organisations such as Academic Health Science Networks.

The advertisement for the vacancies can be found on NICE website here. The deadline for submitting applications is 5pm on Monday 14 November 2016. So, if you feel you fit the bill, get your application in soon and let the secretariat of the BSGE know if you apply, and if you are appointed.
