The first pilot of National Hysterectomy Programme (LapHyst) is now open for applications. This first pilot programme will be run in partnership with Ethicon and Karl Storz and further pilots will be announced soon in partnership with other companies.

Consultants who are BSGE members are eligible to apply and should have a letter of support from their clinical director and medical director; this requirement should help to ensure that the consultant has the support of his/her Trust and that care and effort is likely to be given to the training of theatre staff without whose active assistance, the development of the service is liable to be made more difficult. It is expected that applicants will have appropriate laparoscopic skills prior to entry to the course and will already be familiar with both abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy.

Application should be made in writing to the BSGE Secretariat.

Application should include a two page CV, the application form and a statement (maximum 400 words) of why the applicant would be suitable for the programme. Further information can be found in the letter here.

The closing date for applications will be 28 February 2016.
