The Joint BSGE and RCOG Meeting on Benign Abdominal Surgery: Open and Laparoscopic, will take place next week. Running from the 19th to 21st September at the College this hugely popular course has only a few places remaining. BSGE Meetings Convenor, Ertan Saridogan encouraged members to register as soon as possible to secure their attendance.

Ertan told the news team that this year the meeting contents have been improved to be more attractive to both trainees and consultants. The meeting will cover the entire theoretical syllabus of the Benign Abdominal Surgery: Open and Laparoscopic ATSM, but will also provide lectures on the contemporary approach to gynaecological surgery in clinical practice.

There will be break-out sessions to provide updates in the fields of urogynaecology, endometriosis and gynaecological oncology.

The course should be beneficial to subspecialty trainees in reproductive medicine, urogynaecology and gynaecological oncology, in addition to those registered for the
relevant surgical ATSMs.

Particularly exciting is the new addition, this year, of a Hands-on Practical Laparoscopic Surgery Course on the third day. This course has a fantastic programme to cover all essential components of laparoscopic surgery including the use of energy, suturing and management of your stack. The previous HOT training courses have been a big hit and this promises to continue the success story. The ESGE LASTT Certification station will also be run on the final day.
