It’s election time again. This time it’s nothing to do with Brexit or Trump, it’s all about the BSGE.

Mark Whittaker, Honorary Secretary, told the news team about the process:

“There are five vacancies for senior members of Council. Natasha Waters, Chris Guyer, Liza Ball and Gill Smith have all served their first 3 year term and have the opportunity of standing for re-election to a second three year term. I am pleased to confirm that Natasha, Liza and Chris have decided to stand again. Gill has decided to give somebody else the opportunity of standing. I would like to thank her for all her achievements on Council.

Tyrone Carpenter has completed his two 3 year terms and under the constitution will now have to stand down. I wish to personally thank him for all his hard work for our Society.

The post of Honorary Treasurer is also up for election. Thomas Ind has served as Treasurer for the last 5 years and has done a superb job in keeping the Societies finances in order. He has contributed so much effort and energy to our Society and I know that although he will stand down from the Treasurer’s role, he will continue to contribute to our expanding and developing Society. Thank you, Tom.

There is one vacancy for junior representative on Council. Fevzi Shakir needs congratulating for being appointed Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Free Hospital and he will resign his position at the next Council meeting. Donna Ghosh continues in the second post for another year. They have both made excellent contributions to our Society and we wish Fevzi all the best in his new consultant role.”

Any junior member of the BSGE is eligible for nomination for the position of junior rep. Consultant members with a current paid up membership, resident in the United Kingdom are able to be put forward for senior positions. There is also a representative of the paramedical members which includes nurses, operating department practioners and theatre staff and other medical practioners, such as General Practioners who have a special interest in gynaecological endoscopic procedures.
